1. Who We Are

GeoHunter is an open-source geography guessing game operated by Artur Ferreira. This policy explains how we handle information when you use the service.

2. Information We Collect

Account information. When you sign in via Clerk (Google or email), we receive your email address, name, and profile picture as provided by the authentication provider.

Profile information. We store your username, avatar configuration, and account preferences.

Gameplay information. We store your guesses, scores, match history, round timing, and game results.

Analytics information. We use Umami, a privacy-friendly analytics tool that does not use cookies and does not track personal information. It collects anonymous page view and usage data only.

3. How We Use Information

We use information to provide authentication, gameplay, scoring, match history, leaderboards, and to maintain the security and reliability of GeoHunter.

4. Cookies

GeoHunter uses cookies only for authentication and session management via Clerk. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies. Umami analytics does not set any cookies.

5. Third-Party Services

GeoHunter uses Clerk for authentication and Google Maps Embed API for Street View gameplay. These services process information under their own privacy policies.

6. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We may share information with service providers that help operate GeoHunter, or when required by law. Some gameplay information (username, scores, match results) may be visible to other players.

7. Data Retention

We retain account and gameplay information for as long as needed to operate GeoHunter. You may request account deletion at any time by contacting us.

8. Security

We use reasonable technical measures to protect your information, including secure authentication via Clerk. No online service can guarantee perfect security.

9. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or object to processing of your personal information. Contact privacy@geohunter.io to make a request.

10. Children

GeoHunter is intended for users who are at least 13 years old. If you believe a child has provided personal information in violation of this policy, please contact us.

11. Changes

This policy may be updated from time to time. The updated version will be posted on this page with a new date. Continued use means the updated policy applies.
